The military’s business administration ranks among the highest concentration of business administration positions in the U.S. government, according to a new report from Recode.
“The business administration is the third-largest concentration in the federal government and ranks behind the Air Force and Navy,” Recode senior VP of data analysis, Andrew Marder, wrote in the report.
The report notes that there are roughly 7 million business administration jobs in the government, with the military accounting for almost half.
Business administration is also among the top-paying fields in the civilian economy, according a report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Its job profile ranges from small businesses to large corporations.
The military employs an estimated 9% of the U to S. population, and its business administration employs over 50% of that workforce.
As part of the research, Marders examined the most-competitive business administration majors, which are typically among the lowest paid, with business administration major rankings at the bottom of the list.
The ranking of the top 10 business administration business majors in the United States is: Business administration management 21, accounting 15, law 14, economics 10, finance 9, social work 8, and social work 9.
The top business administration job rankings are also clustered in the states of California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, and Ohio.
